Additionally, you can witness the park’s incredible tree-climbing lions! Not many African lions take to the trees. Nobody can say with certainty why some lion populations in Uganda and Tanzania choose to climb trees while others remain grounded. Some believe they ascend trees to escape the pesky tsetse flies. Some think it is a means for them to find refuge from the sweltering heat below. Whatever the true reason, they seem quite cozy!

Today, you can anticipate encountering elephants, crocodiles, endangered giraffes (more on these below), leopards, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda kobs, buffalos, hippos, antelopes, and waterbucks. Wow, that is quite an extensive list!
The park boasts an impressive array of 460 bird species, featuring the remarkable shoebill stork among them.

13. Encounter the majestic Rothschild’s giraffes
Rothschild’s giraffes represent one of the rarest populations of these magnificent creatures on the planet. It is believed that merely about 1,600 of them remain in their natural habitat. Its IUCN status is “near threatened”. These giraffes roam exclusively in the wilds of Kenya and Uganda.
