As you journey through Uganda and Rwanda, you will find yourself navigating well-paved roads that hold up quite nicely by the continent’s standards. There might be some EXTENDED hours spent in the vehicle, but the captivating and varied landscapes usually compensate for it! There are, however, some challenging stretches of dirt road, particularly in the more rugged regions. In these areas, the journey will unfold at a leisurely pace, with plenty of bumps along the way, and you might encounter a fair amount of dust as you traverse the landscape. For the longer routes, you can choose between scheduled or charter flights – feel free to ask about prices and availability.
The safari vehicles you will be traveling in are specially designed 4×4 vehicles (primarily Toyota Land Cruisers) tailored for local conditions. They offer ample legroom and can accommodate between 4-7 passengers, depending on the seating arrangement, and feature opening roof hatches for the best game viewing experience. They may not zip down the road like a saloon vehicle or a compact ‘family’ 4×4, but they do come equipped with air conditioning. Your safari vehicle serves as your trusty companion during your journey, whisking you between destinations and taking you on exhilarating game drives and engaging activities at the lodges and within the National Parks.
