On the outskirts of Bwindi Impenetrable national park hills Uganda, Gorilla Hill Eco Lodge is a mid-range accomodation facility. On the high hill with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, the lodge is located among the four access points of the park.

Situated near the tracking point, the lodge offers the ideal location for escape into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to roughly half of the surviving mountain gorillas worldwide for Gorilla Trekking activities.

One may reach the lodge by road from Kampala or Entebbe, which takes around 9–10 hours “drive to the lodge and 1–2 hours flight from Entebbe international Airport to the close Kisoro airstrip then few minutes to be transferred to the Lodge”.

Eight large and cozy rooms facing the park reflecting African architecture style with comfort make up Gorilla Hill Eco resort.Rooms are beautifully adorned, raised and equipped with peace and en suite private facilities like flushing toilets, bathroom hot and cold showers, mosquito nets, complimentary toiletries, slippers, hair driers, complementary bottled water and many more conveniences.

Large sitting spaces and private balconies overlooking the magnificent Forest canopy and neighboring agricultural scene abound in rooms. Rooms include great, neat comfy poster beds with fresh, laundered bedding.

Single beds for people, double beds, twin, triple and family rooming options abound in rooms varying in size. Rooms cost 250$ and more per person per night; occasionally, rates in peak season vary somewhat from what I low season suggests.

Nature hikes in the nearby town, birdwatching or bird-watching in the park, gorilla trekking since the region is famed for mountain gorillas.

The best and most visited national park in southwest Uganda is Bwindi Forest, Impenetrable National Park. More threatened mountain gorillas approximately 19 gorilla groups call the park home. The park covers 330.8 square kilo meters overall.

Of the more over 600 mountain gorillas found in Bwindi national park, 19 gorilla families are habituated. There are four 4 zones in the park: Nkuringo, Rushaga, Buhoma, and Ruhijha; gorilla trekking takes place in each. Gorilla trekking takes place in four separate sectors of the park: Nkuringo, Rushaga, Buhoma, and Ruhijha sectors.

Four gorilla families—Bitukura, Kyaguriro, Mukiza and oruzongo Families— reside in Ruhijha Sector, on the eastern edge of the park. With a lovely perspective of the forest canopy, Ruhijha sector is the nicest and most visited sector among others forming Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Four habituated gorilla families—Mubare gorilla family, Habinyanja, Rushegura and Katwe gorilla family—are found in the Eastern portion of Bwindi national park. In 1993, Mubare was the first gorilla family in the Buhoma district that visitors walked.

Five gorilla families, named Mishaya, kahungye, Nshongi, Busingye, and Bweza, live in Rushaga Sector, which is in southern Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Two gorilla habituation experiences for Bukingi and Bushaho families also come from Rushaga area.

Found in the southern section of the park, Nkuringo sector is home to three gorilla families comprising Nkuringo, Bushaho, and Christmas family. Staying at the lodge, one can follow in southern sector one from Rushaga or Nyakagezi. Gorilla permit in Bwindi is 700$, in July 2024 it will be 800$. Globally, there are more than seven hundred and eighty six (786) mountain gorillas.

Although some of Uganda’s population lives in Mgahinga national Park, most of them reside in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest; Uganda boasts close to half of their entire population here. The Bwindi Impenetrable national park offers luxury, mid-range, and budget lodging in various kinds.
February, March, June, July, September, October, and December are the ideal times to visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
