Plants: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has a thick forest that can’t be broken through. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park has bamboo and mountain woods in an afro-montane vegetation park.
Families of mountain gorillas
There are up to 12 mountain gorilla families that live in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and there is one mountain gorilla group that lives in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Trekking with mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is harder because the trails are rougher and longer. Trekking with mountain gorillas in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is easier because the trails are more level and shorter.
Not only does Bwindi Impenetrable National Park have gorillas, but it also has about 120 species of mammals and 350 species of birds. There are 70 types of mammals and 180 types of birds in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Going up mountains
Even though there are some steep trails in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you can’t climb mountains there. People who visit Mgahinga Gorilla National Park can hike to the tops of Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo.
Neighborhood Tourism
Because this forest goes so far into the nearby villages, you can visit a number of them while you’re in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You can only visit a few villages in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, though. The batwa and the people who live on punishment island are the only ones you can see.
Ability to access
From Kampala, you can drive through Kabale district to get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The park is in Kanungu. It takes nine to ten hours to drive this distance. By road or through Queen Elizabeth National Park, you can also get to Bwindi. You can also drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park from either Kigali or Kampala through the Kisoro area. To get from Kampala to the park takes nine to ten hours. To get from Kigali to the park takes four to five hours.
