The New Gorilla Family
Eleven mountain gorilla families are well-known in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, and over the years, visitors have been making reservations for the family that best suits their gorilla trekking safari interests. The new gorilla family in Bwindi Impenetrable was introduced in 2019 and is available for you to see and possibly experience.
In addition to the eleven (11) families of mountain gorillas that are known to exist in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a new family has been added to the list, bringing the total number of mountain gorilla families in the park to twelve (12) that are currently open for visitors. This could potentially be your new family for your Ugandan mountain gorilla safari this year.
Mr. Stephen Masaba, please take note that AUTO is in charge of regulating Ugandan travel operators and businesses. A new family of gorillas has been introduced as being available for visits at any time. There are roughly five mountain gorilla families in the Rushaga gorilla trekking sector, one of the most populated areas of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and now there is one more.
Previously known to have five (5) mountain gorilla families, Rushaga now has six (6) gorilla families available for you to see, thanks to the advent of the additional gorilla family. The Rwingi Mountain Gorilla Group is the new family of mountain gorillas.
The Rwingi Gorilla Group, the newest family of mountain gorillas
The Kahugye or Kahuje mountain gorilla groups split apart to form the new Rwingi mountain gorilla group. The silver-back that currently leads the Rwingi gorilla family is known by that name. This demonstrates that gorillas share 90% of their DNA with humans, who also have family names similar to theirs. The silver back is one of six members of the new Rwingi mountain gorilla family. You must purchase a ticket for this, and you never know, you might be one of the first to visit the new Rwigi gorilla troop in the Rushaga area up close.
Other families of mountain gorillas
You can stick with the “veteran” mountain gorilla families in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which have been profitable and have a devoted following of visitors year after year. After all, old is gold.
Aside from the new “rwingi” family, there are eleven other seasoned mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Rushengura, Mubare, and Habinyanja are the three families that inhabit the Buhoma region north of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Butukura, Kyanguriro, and Oruzongo gorilla families are among the Ruhija families found in the eastern region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. One family, known as the Nkuringo Mountain Gorilla Group, is located in the Nkuringo region of Bwindi National Park. The remaining families—the Mushaya, Kahungye, Busingye, Nshongi, and Buhoza—are located in the Rushaga region south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Over 400 mountain gorillas, or nearly half of the world’s population, may be found in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. They are all open for visits throughout the year. Since it’s the off-peak season, you can get a discount on your gorilla permit if you book it now. A full hour spent with the habituated mountain gorillas up in the jungle will make your permit for gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park worthwhile. Gorilla trekking is an enthralling and unforgettable experience.
Thanks to your purchase of a gorilla trekking permit, you may have contributed to the growth and development of the Rushaga gorilla families by bringing new members to the community.
