Oruzogo Gorilla Family
The Oruzogo gorilla family lives in the southwest of Uganda, in the Ruhija section of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forests. The mountain gorillas live in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is one of the largest parks in Africa.
Ten familiar gorilla families live in the park. The Oruzogo gorilla family is one of these families.
More than 400 mountain gorillas live in Bwindi Forest National Park. That’s almost half of all the gorillas in the world. Mountain Gorillas from a different species are thought to live in this park, which is separate from the Virungas.
Mountain Gorillas are a rare species and one of the biggest apes that share 98% of our DNA.
People walk through the Ruhija area of Bwindi’s dense bush to see the Oruzogo gorilla family. In 2011, visitors were the first people to see the family. Since then, everyone who sees them falls in love with them.
Group of Oruzogo Gorillas
The group has 22 people, including two silverbacks. One of them is “Tibirikwata,” who is the family head. Other leaders in the group are Kaganga (the giant), Bwoba (the coward), and Busungu (the short-tempted).
Multiple births have made the family bigger. The group’s women gave birth in 2011, with Nta Murungi giving birth in June 2011 and Musi giving birth in October 2011.
In 2012, Kakobe the female had twins, which made everyone happier. Visitors will enjoy the family’s active and happy babies, which will make them want to stay longer.
This is the second family to live in the Ruhija area. Get up early, get ready, and go to the park offices for a short meeting with this family about going monkey hiking. The hike isn’t very difficult, but you need to be physically fit and able to handle long periods of distance.
You can meet the family for an hour and see what they do every day, like play, eat, clean, show off their nests, and more.
Plan ahead for your gorilla hike to the Oruzongo family in the Ruhija family.
