The Ikoro Hotel is a new, three-star mid-range hotel in Bufumbira, Kisoro Town, right next to Kisoro Airstrip. It is close to the gorilla trekking sites of Mgahinga, Nkuringo, Rushaga, and Bwindi National Park, which is in the very southwest of Uganda, on the border with Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The hotel is in a great spot with a view of the volcanoes and the nearby area. To get to Mgahinga National Park, it takes about 30 minutes by car, 2 minutes from Kisoro airport, and 2 hours by car from Kigali city center via Cyanika or the Gatuna border. It takes 9 hours by car from Kampala/Entebbe international airport, and it takes 2-3 hours to fly from Entebbe airport to Kisoro airstrip and then 40 minutes to drive from Kigali International airport to Kisoro.

The Ikoro Hotel has 26 soundproofed, large, comfy rooms with views of the beautiful volcanic scenery. The rooms are designed in a modern way and are close to all the comforts of home.  Each room is tastefully decorated and equipped with high-quality amenities such as a bathroom with a bathtub, a toilet that flushes, air conditioning, fire extinguishers, a flat-screen TV, a hair dryer, satellite channels, a glass-sliding window, free toiletries, slippers, and several other things.

Each room has its own balcony, rooftop deck, or sitting area where you can relax while taking in the amazing view of the volcanoes and the area.  The beds are queen and king sizes, and the linens are clean, soft, and comfy, which helps you sleep better.

There are different types of rooms, such as luxury, standard, and suites. The rooms are also different sizes, with single beds for people, double or twin beds for sharing, and family rooms. Prices start at $300 per night and go up from there.  The rate is sometimes higher during peak season than during low season.

There is an Internet WIFI hotspot in each room so that guests can stay in touch with their friends and family.  Guests can use the free wifi internet to browse the web.

Business centers have conference rooms that can fit more than 100 people for meetings, workshops, and weddings. These rooms can be used for business events, honeymoon packages, and other things.

You can play board games (like football and tennis), go gorilla climbing and habituation in Mgahinga National Park, Bwindi (because Kisoro is the land of gorillas), track golden monkeys in Mgahinga National Park, take a Batwa community tour, and do many other things while you’re there.

The town of Kisoro is in the southwestern part of Uganda. It shares borders with Rwanda to the south, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, the Kanungu district to the north, and Kabale to the east.  You can find Mountain Gorillas in Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Their home is in Kisoro.

The area is home to four important ethnic groups: the Bafumbira, the Bakiga, the Batwa, and the Banyarwanda. In Kisoro Town, there are different kinds of places to stay that are good for all kinds of travelers.
