All visitors and tourists arriving by road or air who do not qualify for the complimentary 90-day entry into Rwanda or cannot obtain their visa upon arrival without prior application must complete a “entry facility application” on the Rwandan immigration authority’s website – www.migration.gov.rw. Under the topic “Public service,” click on “entry facility,” and on the form that appears, clients should fill in basic details such as name, passport number, arrival date, and port of arrival before submitting it online. Clients should embark on processing this application promptly to ensure there is ample time for approval to unfold. Clients should consider printing a copy of their submission to ensure they have it on hand, just in case their original is missing at the visa counter upon arrival.
When you return to Uganda, such as from Rwanda by road, you might have the option of a transit visa for USD15, depending on your travel plans and destination within Uganda, as well as the duration of your stay. However, if that’s not available, you will need to obtain a full new single entry visa for USD50.
Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months and has plenty of clear pages for visas before you set off on your journey. If you are embarking on a journey with a British Passport, be aware that new regulations state your passport must be valid for 12 months to enter Uganda. It is advisable to verify your visa status before embarking on your journey with your agent or Wild Frontiers – these regulations are subject to frequent changes, and certain embassies may REQUIRE you to obtain one before your trip, while others might offer them upon arrival – embassies often profit from this process.
