Day 1: Entebbe – Embarking on a quest to track the majestic Shoebill
Your journey begins with a pickup from Entebbe International Airport, just a short 15-minute ride, before you settle into your hotel in Entebbe. You will gather with your trip specialist for an exciting briefing just before dinner.

Day 2: Journey from Entebbe to Kisoro – Canoeing
Prepare for an early start as you embark on a one-hour domestic flight from Entebbe to Kisoro Airport, taking off at 7:30 am. Kisoro Airport is located on the outskirts of the southern side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. A driver will meet you and take you to the beginning of your village walking experience.
The trail offers a journey of approximately 45 minutes from Kisoro Town, winding through village footpaths that unveil stunning landscapes featuring breathtaking views of terraced mountain slopes, lush rainforests, and vibrant human settlements.
As you wander along the village paths, you encounter intriguing individuals and uncover the rich tapestry of the local community’s everyday experiences. Countless children and locals will welcome us as they care for their fields and livestock and gather water from nearby springs.
The trail leads you to the serene shores of Lake Mutanda, where you will encounter fishermen and their traditional dug-out canoes. You forge ahead to the north in your dug-out canoes, accompanied by the captivating stories of your guide and the melodic chants of fishermen. The 2.5-hour canoeing journey is more than just a ride; it’s an experience filled with the soothing tranquility of the captivating scenery, flowing water, skilled rowers, and the symphony of nature that you simply cannot overlook. The vibrant community around the lake will intersect your boat journey with fishers tending to their nets, individuals transporting fresh produce to market by canoe, and others skillfully harvesting reeds for their artistic and building endeavors.

If you are not in the mood for another walk, your driver will come to collect you during the later breakfast hours and take you on a scenic drive up the mountains to Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge. He can also shorten the trail for those who seek a more relaxed stroll.
As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, you will embark on a 2-mile forest trail alongside the Batwa elders, who will share their rich heritage of ancient forest cultures, traditional medicines, and captivating entertainment. Day 5: The Gorilla Expedition
Prepare for an exciting day ahead; rise by 7:00 am, enjoy a hearty breakfast, pack your lunch, and ensure your gear is ready to go. Your private driver will whisk you away to the briefing point bright and early, before 7:30 am. Gorilla trekking kicks off around 8:00 am, no matter the weather or how many are in the group.
Spending a significant portion of your day in the jungle is inevitable, yet you will find yourself dedicating even more time to the exhilarating pursuit of tracking the mountain gorillas rather than simply observing them. You have about one hour to observe the imposing creatures lurking just 10 meters away from you. But at times they draw nearer, and you have to heed the laws of the wild.
The moments you share with the magnificent great apes will more than make up for the invigorating jungle hikes that test your physical limits. I suggest you get some exercise in for a few days before your arrival.
By around 2:00 pm, you will be on your way out; enjoy a lunch amidst the vibrant jungle before returning to your cozy cottage for the evening. Embrace the opportunity for engaging conversations in the lounge after dinner.

Day 6: Trekking Through the Enchanting Bwindi Forest
At around 8:30 am, you will embark on the trail following a brief introduction with your walking safari guide at the lodge. Set out on the trails during the enchanting early morning hours, allowing the vibrant afternoon sunrays to greet you beneath the lush jungle canopy. Embark on a journey alongside a local guide and two armed rangers for your safety. Travel light; just your backpack filled with lunch, a camera, and the thrill of exploration. The trail offers a journey that spans approximately 4-5 hours of exploration.
In the heart of the jungle, two trails converge, winding their way down to Buhoma town; the choice of which path to take is yours to make. The longer route winds for over six miles, tracing the path of the Kashasha river and crossing multiple ridges. The shorter one begins at Kashasha River, winds through Nteko valley, and flows alongside Ivy River. To embark on the Ivy River Trail, you’ll need to journey approximately 15 kilometers to reach Nteko village. However, both trails offer an exhilarating experience for daring explorers.
