Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )
Day 1: Start from Kigali (before 2pm), drive to Cyanika Border and cross into Uganda.
Either the Hotel in Kigali or the Kigali Airport upon arrival (before noon) will be the pick-up point. The designated Professional English-speaking Tour Driver-guide will choose or get you and we will start a transfer to Cyanika Border Post.
From Cyanika, you will be met by our Professional Tour Driver-guide located in Uganda, who will replace his counterpart based in Rwanda. Tomorrow you will go golden monkey trekking at a property in Mgahinga NP after crossing borders into Uganda overnight.
accommodation: Travellers Rest Hotel
Day 2: Golden monkey trekking Mgahinga NP, transfer to Bwindi (Buhoma Sector).
Regarding primates, Uganda is rather abundant and one species you really should not miss is the golden monkey. The golden monkeys seem really beautiful when compared to other monkey species. Part of the Virunga Mountains, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park hosts these beautiful primates, which are indigenous.
We will start a 45-minute to an hour trip this morning to the Mgahinga NP ranger’s station. Once there, we will have some briefings before a ranger-guide will conduct you on this journey into the Mgahinga Forest to come across golden monkeys.
Once found, you will have one hour among them. The time spent with these primates is just incredible; you would not know how time has passed. When you get back, you will get in the vehicle and start a trip to a house near the Bwindi NP, where we will have gorilla treks.
Accommodation: Ride 4 a Woman Guesthouse
Day 3: Gorilla trekking Bwindi Forest, return and stay at leisure – recovering.
Eat breakfast then go to the station of the rangers. During gorilla trekking, you will get some briefings—from a ranger-guide—on dos and avoidable rules. You will then find your quest and encounter in the jungle. This rain forest is very beautiful.
Though very thick and crisscrossed by many animal paths enabling access to visitors, the region presents a spectacular steeply wooded scene. With the movements of these amazing primates, the terrain and the time taken—four to eight hours—change.
You will be given one hour among a gorilla troop once you have found one. Time spent with these kind yet threatened creatures is memorable.
Go back to the lodging and relax after a tough walk. *( Additional cost): Should you conclude early and the body is ready for another visit or some quick nature stroll, you may ask your guide to plan.
Accommodation: Ride 4 a Woman Guesthouse
Day 4: Game viewing Ishasha for tree-climbing lions and connect north Queen.
Get up early, have breakfast, then start a journey to Queen Elizabeth NP’s Ishasha area, which is well-known for its lion population that climbs trees.
Once there, look for this uncommon species of lions via a game drive.
Though sometimes difficult to see (most particularly when they are down in the grassland searching for food), the likelihood of spotting these lions falls between 60 and 70%. Should you be able to see the lions up in the tree, the view is breathtaking and memorable.
From Ishasha (south), leave and travel for the reserved northern accomodation. Verify in and get rest. *Optional: Should your interests lie in a late afternoon-to- evening wildlife drive or safari on the Kasenyi plains.
Accommodation: Irungu Forest Safari Lodge
Day 5: Morning game drive and afternoon boat trip along the Kazinga Channel.
Get here early and have breakfast. Go for a morning wildlife drive on the Kasenyi plains and search for Cape buffalos, herds of elephants plus lions, leopards (though rare), among others. Go back to the hotel for lunch and some relaxation.
You will embark a two-hour boat journey on the Kazinga Channel between Lakes George and Edward after lunch. The sight of animals such enormous hippos, elephants, and crocodiles among others will captivate you throughout the tour.
Along the lake, you will also see a great range of birds.Following the boat journey, you may choose to first go for a quick late afternoon game drive then go back to the resort to relax.
Accommodation: Irungu Forest Safari Lodge
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Mburo NP and enjoy afternoon (evening) game drive.
Have a leisurely morning then go to Lake Mburo NP. Conveniently near to the route linking Entebbe/Kampala to the parks of western Uganda, Mburo is a little jewel. Though home to so many bird species as well as mammals like giraffes, zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, and the elusive leopard among others, it is the smallest savannah National Parks in Uganda.
Arriving and checking in for some relaxation, we will then set out for a late afternoon-to- evening game drive that will put us up close with the Mburo residents. At last go back to the lodge for supper and overnight stay.
*Optional (additional cost 30$ pp.: If interested, you might think about the night game drive to see nocturnal species which will be an uncommon sight when contrasted to the daily daylight sightings.
Accommodation: Eagle’s Nest Camp
Day 7: Morning walking safari in the park, transfer to Entebbe to catch a flight.
Enjoy breakfast and a morning park (bush) stroll in Mburo with an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guide. On this early morning guided walk, you’ll see Zebras, Giraffes, Eland, Topi, antelope, and Cape buffaloes up close. After checking out, go to Entebbe airport to catch a flight (from 1730hrs or later). Expect to stop at Kayabwe, the Equator crossing, for some great images in the Pearl of Africa.
