Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )

Day 1: Journey from Nairobi to the enchanting Lake Bogoria – Kenya

Your exciting journey begins in Nairobi, where you’ll be picked up from your pre-tour hotel at 07h30 in the morning, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience to Masai Mara & the African Great Lakes.

Lake Bogoria is the first stop on our thrilling journey through the Great Rift Valley Lakes. Our journey leads us northwest through the breathtaking expanse of the Great Rift Valley. From the summit of the escarpment, we gaze out over the Great Lakes, scattered like jewels across the vast landscape beneath us. This stunning view offers an exciting preview of the wonders that await on the journey ahead.

We reach our lakeside resort just in time for a delightful lunch. Next, we embark on an exploration of Lake Bogoria National Park in the afternoon.

Lake Bogoria is a captivating soda lake that draws in enormous seasonal gatherings of vibrant pink flamingoes. Some refer to it as ‘the new home of the flamingo’ due to the migratory population that can reach up to two million flamingoes gathering here at certain times. The stunning lake, rich in salt and minerals, draws in countless flamingos and a variety of other birds. Lake Bogoria is renowned for its captivating hot springs and geysers.

After discovering our first Great Lake of Africa, we head back to our lodge for a delightful dinner and a cozy overnight stay.

Day 2: Journey from Lake Bogoria to Lake Nakuru – Kenya

After a hearty breakfast at the safari lodge, we set off on an exciting drive south to the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park. Even though the national park spans just 180 km² (69 mi²), it serves a vital purpose in the preservation of birds and wildlife. This remarkable wildlife sanctuary is home to endangered white and black rhinos, as well as the rare Rothschild’s Giraffes. The park is home to an array of magnificent African wildlife, featuring lions, leopards, buffaloes, and zebras.

Lake Nakuru is a paradise for bird lovers, boasting more than 400 species of birds. Among them are the Great White Pelican, African Spoonbill, Yellow-billed Stork, Lesser Flamingo, Greater Flamingo, and Long-crested Eagle.

We spend the second night of our Kenya Safari Tour at an inviting lodge nestled within the stunning landscapes of Lake Nakuru National Park. Immerse yourself in the stunning vistas of the shallow soda lake and the encircling bush, while staying alert for the fascinating wildlife and vibrant birds that may appear.

Day 3: Journey from Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha – Kenya

On the third day of our Budget Kenya Safari, we kick off the morning with breakfast at our picturesque lakeside lodge. Then we set off on an exhilarating morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. Mornings offer a thrilling opportunity to observe birds and animals in the bush, so have your binoculars at the ready.

Following our exhilarating game drive, we journey south to the next stunning destination on our Kenya Safari, Lake Naivasha. We reach our safari lodge just in time for lunch, and then embark on an exhilarating guided walking safari in Crescent Island Game Sanctuary. This exclusive reserve is situated on a peninsula that transforms into an island in Lake Naivasha during high water levels, making it accessible solely by boat. Our game walk on Crescent Island offers an exciting opportunity to encounter wildlife and birds up close, including wildebeest, zebra, various antelope species, and giraffes. Keep an eye out for fascinating bird species like pelicans, cormorants, and fish-eagles.

This afternoon, you can embark on an exciting journey to the nearby Hell’s Gate National Park, perfect for hiking and cycling adventures. After our afternoon of discovering the wonders of the Lake Naivasha area in the Great Rift Valley, we head back to the lodge for dinner and a tranquil evening.

Day 4: Journey from Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara – Kenya

We journey south to the town of Narok, pausing for lunch before we press on to the breathtaking Masai Mara National Reserve. The Masai Mara is a treasure trove of wildlife experiences, showcasing remarkable animal encounters throughout the year. As we journey to our tented camp close to Masai Mara, Kenya’s premier safari destination, we remain vigilant for wandering wildlife.

This evening, we gather for dinner at our safari camp by the river, surrounded by the symphony of animal sounds echoing through the African bush. Nestled within a secluded wildlife conservancy adjacent to the Masai Mara National Park, our luxurious tented camp offers breathtaking views of the rolling wilderness. We reside in enduring tents equipped with cozy beds and private bathrooms.

Day 5: Masai Mara Expedition – Kenya

Today marks the beginning of our thrilling full-day Masai Mara Safari! We embarked on our journey at dawn, ready to immerse ourselves in a full day of thrilling wildlife exploration in one of Africa’s premier parks. Our game drives lead us on thrilling quests to encounter Africa’s Big 5 (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo) along with a host of other magnificent mammals.

The Masai Mara Reserve spans 1510km² of breathtaking wide-open landscapes and lush riverine woodlands, tracing the winding paths of the Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya. Just a single look reveals its charm; it embodies the essence of the African savannah, teeming with a multitude of wild creatures battling for existence. On clear days, the Masai Mara presents breathtaking orange-tinted sunsets over the savannahs – a sight that begs to be captured on camera!

In the expansive Masai Mara, every corner reveals an abundance of wildlife, including Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impalas, hartebeests, and wildebeests. In great numbers, you can encounter elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos. It is also common to see lions either lounging after a satisfying feast or scanning the vast grassy plains for their next opportunity. Cheetahs and leopards may be elusive, yet they are fairly prevalent in their habitats.

The pinnacle of excitement here is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest exodus, known as the Great Migration. This migration typically reaches its height in July and August as countless herbivores journey north from the Serengeti, seeking out greener pastures before heading back south in October. Hot-air balloon trips offer an exceptional perspective of the savannah plains alive with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be organized for an additional fee.

We spend the night at the same cozy camp near Masai Mara Reserve as we did on day five of our Budget Kenya Safari.

Day 6: Journey from Masai Mara to Nairobi – Kenya

Begin day six of your Kenya safari with a delightful breakfast at the tented camp nestled in the private Masai Mara Conservancy. Then it is time to bid farewell to the wild landscapes of Africa and journey back to Nairobi.

This afternoon at around 15h00, we find ourselves in the vibrant city of Nairobi, marking the conclusion of our thrilling journey to Masai Mara and the African Great Lakes.
