Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )

Day 1: Journey from Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Tanzania

This budget-friendly Tanzania Private Safari begins with a pickup in Arusha city, the heart of Tanzania’s safari scene nestled at the base of Mount Meru.

The intimate safari experience kicks off with a brief morning orientation before setting off from Arusha, the entrance to the captivating Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit.

We journey southwest to Tarangire National Park, our inaugural safari stop on the Northern Tanzania Circuit. Tarangire Park stands out as a premier destination in East Africa for experiencing elephants in their natural habitat, with around 4000 of these magnificent creatures roaming freely. The national park boasts an impressive array of wildlife, ranking just behind the Serengeti Ecosystem in Tanzania. The landscape is alive with Maasai giraffes, buffalos, lions, leopards, baboons, and a diverse array of antelopes and gazelle species. This vibrant Tanzanian park spans 2600 km² of varied habitats, featuring grassy savannahs, seasonal marshlands, woodlands, and towering ancient baobab trees.

Following our thrilling game viewing in Tarangire, we make our way to our exclusive campsite nestled within the heart of the game park. We relish a meal and a night at the secluded camp, beneath the vast, twinkling African heavens.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Tanzania

On the second day of our Tanzania Safari, we dive deeper into the wonders of Tarangire National Park through exhilarating game drives.

The Tarangire River stands as the sole constant water source in the park, drawing a multitude of animals to its shores during the dry season from July to October. Herds of buffalo and wildebeests, along with elephants, can often be seen roaming near the river. We eagerly watch for a variety of birds during our game drives, as Tarangire boasts more than 100 bird species.

On our second night in Tanzania, we spend the night at the exclusive camp nestled within Tarangire.

Day 3: Journey from Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park & Karatu – Tanzania

Today we embark on a new journey, leaving Tarangire National Park behind after breakfast. We journey through the vibrant and culturally rich Mto Wa Mbu village on our way to the breathtaking Lake Manyara National Park.

On day three, we immerse ourselves in the wonders of Lake Manyara National Park, discovering a variety of animals and birds while soaking up the stunning bush scenery during our game drives. The national park features the stunning Great Rift Lake of Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake that draws a multitude of water birds. Lake Manyara captivates with its vibrant seasonal flamingo flocks that grace its shores, accompanied by a variety of other waterfowl.

The national park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, frequently seen lounging in the branches or resting in the cool shade below, along with its large baboon troops. During our game drive, we eagerly scan the landscape for elephants, hippos, buffalos, banded mongooses, monkeys, klipspringers, and a variety of gazelle and antelope species.

Later in the afternoon, we leave Lake Manyara Park, embarking on a picturesque drive toward the Serengeti and Ngorongoro to the northwest. We journey up the slopes of the Great Rift Valley to Karatu, pausing to capture photographs and soak in the stunning vistas over Lake Manyara and the verdant valley below.

Tonight our Tanzania Private Safari will be at one of the stunningly situated Tanganyika Wilderness Adventure Lodges. Nestled near a coffee estate, just a short 30-minute journey from the entrance of the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, the lodges provide stunning vistas of the verdant crater highlands. If time permits upon our arrival, we might explore the coffee plantations on foot.

Day 4: Journey from Karatu to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater & the vast Serengeti National Park – Tanzania

As dawn unfolds, breakfast awaits us before we embark on our journey into the Ngorongoro Crater of Tanzania.

As we venture down into the vast, untouched caldera, we set off on an exhilarating game drive, eager to discover the incredible variety of wildlife that thrives in this remarkable landscape. The Crater boasts Africa’s Big Five—lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, and leopards—often spotted within just a few hours. The conservation area boasts a remarkable population of over 25,000 larger animals, showcasing the highest density of wildlife found in a single region across Africa.

We pause for a delightful picnic lunch amidst our game drive in Ngorongoro Crater, climbing the crater walls as the afternoon unfolds. Then we journey on to the renowned Serengeti National Park.

As we journey through the southern Serengeti, the vast plains unfold ahead, guiding us to our next camp in Tanzania. This breathtaking journey unveils the expansive rolling plains of Serengeti, adorned with rocky hills known as “Kopjies” (inselbergs). The Serengeti beautifully takes its name from “Siringitu”, the Maasai term for boundless expanse. The vast expanse of the southern Serengeti seems to go on forever, offering an ideal playground for Africa’s majestic big cats, particularly the swift cheetahs.

In the afternoon, we reach our exclusive camp in Serengeti Park.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park – Tanzania

The entirety of day five unfolds amidst the vibrant wildlife of the game-rich plains of Serengeti Park, Tanzania’s top safari destination.

We journey through prime locations for observing wildlife, stopping at the finest viewpoints for stunning photos, and relishing the picturesque landscapes, alive with animals. Your expert safari guide leads you to the most promising spots for wildlife encounters, making sure you fully immerse yourself in the thrill of the game drives.

The Serengeti National Park is renowned for the Wildebeest Migration, a breathtaking spectacle of nature that captivates all who witness it. Experience the breathtaking spectacle as countless hooved creatures surge northward at the conclusion of the rainy season (April to June). As the minor rainy season unfolds in October and November, the herds of grazers embark on their journey southward from the Maasai Mara in Kenya to the vast Serengeti Plains. Seasonal variations and changes in rainfall, indeed, influence the timing and paths of migration. A journey to the Frankfurt Zoological Institute nestled in the Serengeti can be arranged (optional activity).

On the fifth night of our Tanzania Private Safari, we find ourselves back at the exclusive Serengeti camp.
