Overview

Traveling to three of Uganda’s great national parks for game watching and leisure, this six-day safari to Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi transports you You will monitor chimpanzees, see savannah animals, and hike the very rare mountain gorillas.

See the Kibale Forest, go on wildlife drives, and take in a boat trip at Queen Elizabeth National Park. Trekking the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park comes last.

Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest from Kampala.

Starting your safari from Kampala, make a journey to Kibale Forest National Park after breakfast. Stopovers in the countryside will allow you to see the great tea farms, crater lakes, towns, and stretched landscapes.

Till we get to Fort Portal for lodge check-in late evening, keep on your path. The resort is in a lovely surroundings beside a crater lake around Kibale Forest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Comprising around 1,500 chimpanzees, Kibale Frest National Park is a wet woodland. You will see them up close and get pictures of these almost-human relatives living in the bush during an early morning chimp-trekking trip.

As they are grooming, you will see their wild and passionate attitude. Apart from the chimpanzees, this trip will allow one to see nine other kinds of monkeys: red-tailed monkeys, red-colobus monkeys, bush infants. Among the other woodland dwellers are many bird species, like the local large blue turaco, joyous greenbul, and the magnificent black beefeater.

Start the drive straight to Queen Elizabeth National Park after the walk, enjoying the breathtaking views of the renowned Rwenzori Mountains. To see the startling variety of savannah flora and animals, travel southwards over the Rwenzori range or across the crater lakes in the highlands.

Arriving at the lodge, take in the amazing perspective of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Discover Queen Elizabeth National Park after breakfast. Early game drives expose you to a variety of savannah species, including several Big Five members such elephants, buffaloes, lions and leopards. Among other little creatures are warthogs.

Along the circuit one may see carnivores like hyenas and many other animals calling this park home. Particularly the storks in the marshes and the smaller flamingoes in the salt lakes, there is great bird variety. Lunch is followed by the two-hour 3 pm boat excursion across the Kazinga waterway. Along the channel’s banks, you may see hippos, buffalues, crocodiles, and many more here.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Forest via Ishasha Sector.

On your route to Bwindi, pass over the Ishasha section of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Tree-climbing lions are well-known from this region. Driving out in Ishasha’s large savannah wildness dotted with topis and elephants will be like entering another world.

If fortune favors you, perhaps you will witness lions lounging high on the fig tree limbs. Then move to Bwindi Impenetrable NP. The terrain will shift here from a level savannah to cultivated hills, then to mountain covered in rainforest. If you arrive early, go around a hamlet and mingle with the nearby Batwa pygmies for fascinating shows and traditional singing.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Get breakfast and ready for the climax of our six-day safari. The forest giants, mountain gorillas, and now you get to see them in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

With a specialist guide, you will go into the forest, walk over stunning scenery, and at last spend one hour in the territory occupied by mountain gorillas. Apart from the gorillas, this Impenetrable Forest is bursting with birdlife, butterflies, and plant species as well as forest pigs, elephants, sitatungas, and duikers.

Following the hike, go to the lovely Lake Bunyonyi, which sits among Kabale’s terraced hills. To visit some of the verdant islands around this lake, you might go slowly in a canoe.

Day 6: Transfer Back to Kampala.

Breakfast early in the morning while staring over the gorgeous Bunyonyi. Proceed then on the trip back to Kampala, stopping at the equator monument and lunch in Mbarara. Return via Kampala/Entebbe, where your guide will deliver you at the airport to start your next trip.

End of tour.
