Day 1: Explore Kigali City & journey to Bwindi

Upon arrival in Rwanda, your journey begins with a tour of the vibrant city of Kigali, where you will explore the poignant Genocide memorial sites that honor the memory of over one million lives lost during the tragic events of the mid-1990s in Rwanda.

Your journey will take you to the enchanting Bwindi Forest Impenetrable Forest in Uganda.

Your evening meal and overnight stay will be at the lodge you reserved.

Day 2: Embark on an exhilarating journey to track gorillas in Bwindi and immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Batwa people.

Following a hearty breakfast, you will gather at the briefing point alongside fellow adventurers for an important session on the guidelines to adhere to during your trek through the dense jungle to encounter the Gorillas, as well as how to behave when you find yourself in their midst. Your trek will be an exhilarating expedition through lush forested slopes, winding vines, vibrant bushes, and towering bamboo, leading you to the majestic Gorillas.

As you journey along, your guide will highlight traces of past Gorilla presence, such as dung, nests, and chewed bamboo shoots. The journey to find the Gorillas can span anywhere from 2 hours to a thrilling 8 hours! Once the Gorillas have been found, your group will have the exciting opportunity to spend up to one hour with them. This is an incredible and unique chance to experience the Gorillas in an intimate way.

You will return to your lodge for a rest and later embark on an exciting community walk among the Batwa people, who once called the Bwindi forest home before it became a National Park. Prepare to be captivated by their way of life and rich culture as a community deeply connected to the forest. You will discover their incredible expertise in native medicinal plants, the art of hunting and gathering, the intricacies of trapping animals, and their remarkable ability to forecast the weather.

You will return to your lodge for a delightful dinner and a night filled with possibilities.

Day 3: Embark on an exhilarating journey to trek the Golden Monkeys in Mgahinga, followed by a transfer to the majestic Volcanoes.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you will head to the Park headquarters for an exciting briefing on the rules for tracking the elusive golden monkeys, before embarking on your thrilling adventure into the forest to find them. The journey lasts between 1 to 4 hours, and once you spot the Golden monkeys, you’ll have an hour to immerse yourself in their world. The Journey to Encounter Gorillas in Rwanda & Uganda Safari travelers will soon embark on an exciting journey to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Your evening meal and overnight stay will be at the lodge you reserved.

Day 4: Embarking on a Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes National Park

Start your day with an early breakfast before gathering at the Kinigi Park Headquarters at 08:00 am. There, the park rangers will provide an exciting briefing on the upcoming gorilla trekking adventure.

Your journey begins as you traverse the established paths leading into a vibrant volcanic forest teeming with avian life, rich plant diversity, and fascinating wildlife such as golden monkeys, elusive elephants, and buffaloes, all framed by breathtaking views of the volcanic peaks peeking through the trees. The trek features exhilarating hiking across diverse landscapes, making it a captivating experience on its own.

Prepare for an exhilarating hour with the Gorillas, followed by a delightful return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will embark on an exciting excursion to the stunning twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo, after which you will return to your hotel for dinner and a restful night.

Day 5: Embark on a thrilling hike through the Dian Fossey area and the majestic Bisoke Volcanoes, followed by a transfer to the vibrant city of Kigali.

Prepare for an exhilarating experience as you enjoy a breakfast before embarking on a hike to the Karisoke Research Centre. Here, you will discover an exhibit filled with interpretive panels that delve into the world of mountain gorillas and the groundbreaking conservation efforts initiated by Dian Fossey. It also houses the Dian Fossey artefacts, a 3D interactive model of the Virunga Mountains, and casts of genuine gorilla nose prints.
