Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )

Day 1: Explore the vibrant streets of Kigali & Journey to Ruhengeri – Gateway to Volcanoes National Park

Upon your arrival, our company representative will greet you and take you to Kigali city, where you will enjoy breakfast before setting off on an exciting city tour that includes a visit to Kimironko market and the genocide memorial site.

Enjoy a delightful lunch at the historic Hôtel des Mille Collines, renowned for its connection to the film (Hotel Rwanda), before embarking on a transfer to Ruhengeri, the closest gateway to the breathtaking Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda’s northern province, arriving in the evening. Enjoy a delightful dinner followed by a cozy overnight stay at Hotel Muhabura or Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 2: Trekking with Gorillas – Volcanoes National Park

Get ready for an exciting start to your day with an early morning breakfast before heading to the park headquarters. You will have your packed lunch and bottled water in tow for a briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00am. Following the briefing, your journey into the wild begins as you set off with ranger guides in pursuit of the majestic mountain gorillas; this adventure can last anywhere from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Nevertheless, the guides will endeavor to track them down from their last known location the day before! You will spend 1 hour with these gentle giants before heading back to your lodge to unwind and rejuvenate. In the evening, you have the chance to embark on an optional community tour around Ruhengeri for an immersive cultural experience in Rwanda. Enjoy a delightful dinner followed by a cozy overnight stay at your selected lodge.

Day 3: Journey to Kisoro / Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

savor your breakfast before setting off on your exciting journey to Kisoro town, the gateway to Gorilla trekking in southern Bwindi. You will enjoy lunch along the way as you cross into Uganda at the Cyanika border, arriving in Kisoro by the afternoon before continuing on to Bwindi. Enjoy a delightful dinner and a cozy overnight stay at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge or Bwindi Jungle Lodge.

Day 4: Trekking with Mountain Gorillas

Enjoy a hearty breakfast in the early morning, then set off to the park office headquarters with a packed lunch for an essential briefing before embarking on an exhilarating trek through the dense, impenetrable forest to encounter the majestic gorillas. After an exhilarating trek lasting between 2 to 8 hours, you have the incredible opportunity to spend an hour with the gorillas. If you are feeling energetic, take a short stroll to visit the local Batwa community and immerse yourself in the surroundings. Explore the curio shops, the children’s school, and more. If you have a passion for the great outdoors, consider exploring the Munyanja river trail, where you can discover a vibrant variety of birdlife and butterflies. Come back for dinner and stay overnight as previously mentioned.

Day 5: Explore Bunyonyi & Journey to Kigali

Start your day with an early morning breakfast before embarking on a drive to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale. There, you will enjoy a brief motorized canoe tour, taking in the stunning beauty of the lake. Enjoy a delightful lunch at Birdnest, nestled by the lake, before heading to Kigali city. You will arrive in the late afternoon and then make your way to the airport for your onward flight.
