Day 1: Journey from Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Tanzania

Embark on an exciting 5 Day Tanzania Safari that kicks off in Arusha, where we’ll pick you up from your pre-safari lodging. Initially, your safari guide shares insights about the thrilling journey that lies ahead and what to anticipate, before you embark on the adventure. We journey west and then south, stepping into the vibrant and wildlife-abundant area of Tanzania known as the Northern Safari Circuit.

Our first Tanzania safari destination is Tarangire National Park, famous for its large gatherings of elephants. We embark on an exhilarating journey through the wildlife park in a customized 4×4 safari vehicle, complete with a pop-up roof to ensure we don’t miss a single moment of the breathtaking sights around us. On our game drive, we pause for a delightful picnic lunch amidst the wild beauty of the African bush.

Tarangire is home to a vibrant mix of wildlife, featuring majestic lions and powerful buffalos, alongside a variety of antelopes, wildebeest, graceful giraffes, and striking zebras. The national park spans approximately 2600km² of untamed land, featuring rolling plains adorned with baobab and acacia trees. After our wildlife safari in Tarangire National Park, we embark on our first overnight stay at a tented safari lodge just a short drive from the park.

We reside in lavish, en-suite tents featuring verandas that overlook the stunning Lake Burunge and the expansive Tarangire beyond. Our journey leads us northwest, venturing into the captivating Rift Valley and the vast Serengeti Park. As we journey onward, we traverse the vibrant village of Mto Wa Mbu and the lively town of Karatu nestled in the refreshing crater highlands.

As we step into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we take a moment to soak in the breathtaking vistas that stretch over the Ngorongoro Crater. As we journey along the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, we descend the outer slopes, heading towards the vast, open plains of the Serengeti. This thrilling journey leads us through charming rural villages inhabited by the pastoralist Maasai people.

Upon arriving at the entrance gate to Serengeti National Park, you can embark on a brief stroll to the viewpoint that offers a breathtaking panorama of the undulating Serengeti plains. Then we venture into Serengeti Park and journey towards the Seronera area, located in the heart of this renowned wildlife park. The journey of exploration kicks off the moment we step into the national park.

Our game drive leads us to our tented safari lodge nestled within the heart of Serengeti National Park. We pause for a delightful picnic lunch as we journey onward. This is an incredible safari destination, competing with the renowned Masai Mara in Kenya. Here you will encounter a vibrant array of wildlife traversing the expansive African savannahs that extend endlessly into the horizon. Stay vigilant for the majestic Big 5 of Africa and a myriad of other wild creatures.

As the sun begins to set, we reach our tented safari lodge, nestled in a hidden corner of the wilderness. We stay at Kati Kati Tented Camp (or similar) deep in the heart of the African wilderness. This evening, we unwind by the campfire, soaking in the wild symphony of nature and drifting off beneath a blanket of stars.

Day 3: Exciting Safari in the Serengeti – Tanzania

On the third day of our 5 Day Tanzania Safari, we are ready to dive into the wonders of Serengeti Park. First, we enjoy breakfast at the cozy tented camp, and then we embark on an exhilarating Serengeti Safari in our 4×4 vehicle.

Experience an extraordinary day of wildlife exploration in Tanzania’s top national park. During the day, we take a break for a picnic lunch in the heart of the African wilderness. Here we will hopefully encounter the Big Five of Africa (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo), along with a stunning variety of other wildlife.

During and after the rainy seasons, you might just find yourself witnessing the Great Migration in all its breathtaking glory. Typically, from October to November and again from April to June, vast herds of plains game traverse the rivers and open landscapes of the Serengeti ecosystem. Each year, a breathtaking spectacle unfolds as countless herbivores, primarily wildebeest, gazelles, and zebras, embark on a remarkable journey between Masai Mara and the Serengeti, following a time-honored path. The migration captivates the numerous predators of Serengeti, lured by the effortless opportunity presented by the wandering herds. The timing and route of the Great Migration shift with the seasons, yet your safari guide expertly navigates to the best locations to witness this breathtaking event.

After an exhilarating day on safari in Serengeti National Park, we return to the tented safari lodge enveloped by the African wilderness.

Meals Throughout the Day
Kindly be informed that from early January to mid-March, your stay will be at Kati Kati Ndutu Tented Camp, located within the Serengeti National Park. The Ndutu Camp is situated near the border of the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, making it an ideal spot for witnessing the Great Migration during this season.

Day 4: Journey from Serengeti Park to Ngorongoro Crater & Karatu – Tanzania

Day four begins with a hearty breakfast at the safari camp, as the sun makes its grand entrance. Next, we embark on an exhilarating game drive through Serengeti Park as we exit the national park, pausing to savor a delightful picnic lunch along the way. Stay alert for wildlife, particularly during the early morning when creatures and birds are bustling with energy. Next, we embark on a journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a place teeming with an incredible array of wildlife in Africa.

As we make our way down to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, we are greeted by breathtaking vistas of the largest unflooded caldera on the planet. The crater teems with the Big Five and nearly every type of large mammal that roams the African landscape.

Following an exhilarating game drive in this World Heritage Site, we venture out of the crater through a different path. On the last evening of our budget Tanzania Safari, we find ourselves at one of the perfectly situated Tanganyika Wilderness Adventure Lodges. Nestled near a coffee estate, just a half-hour from the entrance of the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, the lodges provide stunning vistas of the vibrant crater highlands. If time allows after we arrive, we might explore the coffee plantations on foot.
