Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )
Day 1: Journey from Nairobi to the breathtaking Lake Nakuru – Kenya
This Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara Safari departs from Nairobi in the morning, journeying north through the stunning Great Rift Valley. We journey through stunning landscapes in the Rift Valley, heading towards Lake Nakuru National Park.
After lunch, we set off on an exhilarating afternoon game-viewing drive in Lake Nakuru Park, eager to discover its rich array of wildlife and birds.
This remarkable lake in the Great Rift Valley draws in more than 400 diverse bird species, featuring a variety of water birds. This birding paradise is home to remarkable species like the great white pelican, African spoonbill, yellow-billed stork, lesser and greater flamingo, and long-crested eagle. The Lake Nakuru National Park serves as a vital haven for Africa’s endangered wildlife, particularly the black and white rhinos, along with the majestic Rothschild’s giraffes. The game reserve boasts an array of wildlife, including lions, waterbuck, buffalo, and baboons, all of which we eagerly watch for during our game drive.
We enjoy dinner while immersing ourselves in the breathtaking views from our cozy lodge within Lake Nakuru Park.
Day 2: Journey from Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara – Kenya
On the second day of our journey through Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara, we begin with a delightful breakfast at our lakeside lodging. Then it’s back on the road, as we journey to our next thrilling destination, the renowned Masai Mara Game Reserve.
We journey through the breathtaking expanse of the Great Rift Valley, reaching the safari camp close to Masai Mara just in time for lunch. Then we embark on an exhilarating afternoon to evening game drive in the Masai Mara Reserve.
After our game drive, we head back to the luxurious tented camp nestled in a private conservancy close to Masai Mara Game Reserve for dinner and some well-deserved relaxation.
Days 3 and 4: Masai Mara National Reserve – Kenya
The upcoming two days of our Kenya Safari promise exhilarating experiences as we explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Masai Mara National Reserve, renowned for its incredible wildlife.
Our morning and afternoon game drives lead us on an exhilarating quest for Africa’s Big Five and the multitude of other wildlife that call this expansive Kenyan game reserve home. On clear days, the Mara showcases breathtaking orange-tinged sunsets that create stunning photo opportunities.
The Mara Reserve spans an impressive 1510km² of breathtaking open landscapes and lush riverine woodlands, tracing the winding paths of the Mara and Talek rivers in southwest Kenya. Just a single glance reveals its charm; it features classic open savannah, teeming with incredible wildlife.
Wherever you venture in the expansive Masai Mara Park, you’ll encounter a remarkable array of wildlife, including Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impala, hartebeests, and wildebeest. Elephants, buffalos, zebras, and hippos roam in impressive numbers. Lions can often be spotted lounging in the sun after a satisfying feast or scanning the vast plains, keenly searching for their next opportunity. Cheetahs and leopards may be elusive, yet they can be found with some effort.
The pinnacle of excitement unfolds during the annual wildebeest exodus, known as the Great Migration, in July and August. During this time, millions of these grazers embark on a journey north from the Serengeti, driven by the quest for greener pastures, before making their way back south in October.
Hot-air balloon trips offer a remarkable perspective of the savannah plains alive with wildlife. Exciting balloon trips over the Masai Mara can be organized for an additional fee.
We spend both nights at the same tented safari camp, nestled along the banks of a river near Masai Mara.
Day 5: Journey from Masai Mara to Nairobi – Kenya
Awaken to the untamed beauty of the private Masai Mara conservancy this morning and savor breakfast at the luxurious tented camp.
Then it’s time to bid farewell to the wild and head back to the vibrant heart of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. This Budget Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara Safari concludes with your arrival in Nairobi this afternoon.
