Day 1: Journey to Volcanoes National Park from Kigali

After a briefing about the tour, depart from Kigali and journey to Volcanoes National Park, where you’ll encounter rare primates such as mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

The expedition lasts approximately 3-4 hours and features a pause at the enchanting twin lakes, Lake Ruhondo and Lake Burera. Upon arrival, unwind at your lodge and savor a delightful dinner in the evening.

Day 2: Embark on a thrilling journey with Gorilla Trekking and an optional exploration of the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village

Kick off the morning with a hearty breakfast, then embark on a drive to the park offices for an exciting briefing. The session dives into essential information, such as guidelines for trekking gorillas, required gear, and the assignment of a gorilla family.

Embark on an exciting journey with a park ranger guide who will assist you in discovering a variety of attractions. Engage with the gorillas for an hour, but the whole experience, including the hike, spans up to 8 hours. This trek takes you on an exhilarating journey through rugged highland terrain to encounter the majestic gorillas.

After the trek, make your way back to your lodge. Later, you can explore the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to discover the rich tapestry of Rwandan culture and its ties to wildlife conservation.

Day 3: Embark on an exhilarating hike up Mount Karisimbi

After breakfast, get ready for your hike by packing a lunch, hydrating with water, grabbing your camera, and bringing along binoculars. A briefing will take place before we embark on our journey to the trailhead of the hike.

As you journey along the trail, you’ll traverse a variety of lush vegetation zones, from montane forests to towering bamboo groves, each teeming with diverse bird species and playful primates.

Ascend to the peak of Mt. Karisimbi at 4507m and soak in the breathtaking vistas. Afterward, make your way down to the base camp and enjoy a hearty dinner.

Day 4: Journey Downward and Transition Returning to Kigali

As dawn breaks, make your way down from the mountain and check out of the park. Return to Kigali City, where you will enjoy lunch before your drop-off at the airport.
