Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )
Day 1: Journey from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru – Kenya
This budget-friendly safari to Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara departs from Nairobi in the morning, journeying north through the stunning Great Rift Valley. We journey through stunning landscapes in the Rift Valley, heading towards Lake Nakuru National Park.
After lunch, we set off on an exhilarating afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru Park, eager to discover its rich array of wildlife and birds.
This remarkable lake in the Great Rift Valley is home to more than 400 bird species, such as the Great White Pelican, Grey-crested Helmet-shrike, African Spoonbill, Yellow-billed Stork, and Long-crested Eagle. Lake Nakuru occasionally welcomes flocks of migratory pink flamingos – a breathtaking spectacle when the birds come together.
The Lake Nakuru National Park serves as a vital refuge for some of Africa’s most endangered species, particularly black and white rhinos, along with Rothschild Giraffes. The game reserve is alive with the presence of lions, waterbuck, buffalo, and baboons, all of which we eagerly watch for during our game drive.
We enjoy dinner and spend the night in cozy en-suite rooms at a welcoming lodge in Lake Nakuru Park.
Day 2: Journey from Lake Nakuru to the Maasai Mara – Kenya
On the second day of our thrilling journey through Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara, we kick off the morning with a delightful breakfast at our cozy lodge by the lake. Then it’s back on the road, as we journey to our next thrilling game-viewing destination in Kenya, the renowned Masai Mara Game Reserve.
We journey through the breathtaking expanse of the Great Rift Valley, reaching the safari camp close to Masai Mara just in time for a delightful lunch. Later, we embark on an exhilarating afternoon-to-evening game drive through the Masai Mara Reserve.
Then we head back to the tented camp close to Masai Mara Game Reserve for dinner and a night under the stars.
Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve – Kenya
Today is dedicated to exploring the wonders of Kenya’s premier wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Our morning and afternoon game drives lead us on an exhilarating quest for Africa’s Big Five and the diverse array of wildlife that calls this expansive Kenyan game reserve home. On clear days, the Mara showcases breathtaking orange-tinged sunsets that create stunning photo opportunities. The Mara Reserve spans an impressive 1510km² of breathtaking open landscapes and lush riverine woodlands, tracing the winding paths of the Mara and Talek rivers in southwest Kenya. A single look reveals its charm; it embodies the essence of wide-open savannah, teeming with incredible wildlife.
In the expansive Masai Mara Park, every corner reveals a rich tapestry of wildlife, including majestic Masai giraffes, playful baboons, curious warthogs, elusive bat-eared foxes, stealthy grey jackals, cunning spotted hyenas, graceful topis, agile impalas, sturdy hartebeests, and the iconic wildebeests. Elephants, buffalos, zebras, and hippos roam in impressive numbers. Lions can often be spotted lounging in the sun after a satisfying feast or scanning the vast plains, keenly searching for their next opportunity. Cheetahs and leopards may be elusive, yet they are fairly prevalent in their habitats.
The pinnacle of excitement unfolds during the annual wildebeest exodus, known as the Great Migration, in July and August. During this time, millions of these grazers embark on a journey north from the Serengeti, driven by the quest for greener pastures, before making their way back south in October.
Balloon trips offer an exceptional perspective of the savannah plains alive with wildlife. Exciting balloon trips over the Masai Mara can be organized for an additional fee.
Tonight, we’ll be spending the night at a safari camp nestled within a private conservancy close to Masai Mara.
