The 3-Day Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park, provided by Maseke Adventure Co., invites you to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where you can meet the majestic mountain gorillas in their wild environment.  The journey is set to begin in Kigali, Rwanda, on the first day and will conclude back in Kigali on the third day. If you have a different starting point in mind, just tell us and we’ll happily adjust the pickup location to suit your needs.

Day 1: Journey from Kigali, Rwanda to the breathtaking Virunga National Park

Your journey begins with a pickup in Kigali at 6 am, followed by an exciting drive to the DR Congo Grande Barriere at Goma. After you navigate through both Rwanda and DRC Immigration, make sure to stop by the Virunga National Park tourism office to check in. Your gorilla trekking permits will be provided here. The Maseke Adventure Co., vehicle will stop at the Grande Barriere, where guests will be transported in the Virunga National Park vehicle. Your first night will be spent at Kibumba Tented Camp, where excitement awaits.

Day 2: Embarking on a Gorilla Trek in Virunga National Park

Your day will kick off with a delightful early morning breakfast at Kibumba Tented Camp. After breakfast, you will embark on an exciting briefing with the park rangers. The national park guide will lead the briefing, sharing essential insights on what to anticipate during the trek. At this moment, you will discover the specific gorilla family that awaits your exploration. The gorilla trek can last between 1 to 2.5 hours each way, depending on where the forest’s gorillas are located. Following the exhilarating gorilla trek, you will make your way back to Kibumba Tented Camp for a delightful late lunch. Spend the afternoon unwinding, diving into a good book, or engaging in local experiences like bird watching and community visits.

Day 3: Journey back to Kigali/Rwanda

On day three, you will leave Kibumba Tented Camp and journey to Goma Grande Barriere, where an enthusiastic Maseke Adventure Co. driver will be waiting for you. We will swiftly navigate through both the DRC and Rwanda immigration and make our way back to Kigali for the night.
