Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )

Day 1: Journey from Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park – Kenya

Embark on an exhilarating 12-Day Kenya Wildlife Safari to the breathtaking Masai Mara and premier game parks, setting off from Nairobi city at 07:00 am.

From the vibrant city of Nairobi, we embark on an exciting journey southeast to the breathtaking Tsavo West National Park.

We embark on an exploration of Chyulu Hills and Mzima Springs, where numerous hippos and crocodiles thrive. At Mzima Springs, we can witness the hippos gliding gracefully beneath the water’s surface from the underwater viewing chamber.

On the first day, we enjoy dinner and spend the night at a lodge that offers stunning views of the national park.

Day 2: Tsavo West National Park – Kenya

The entire day unfolds with thrilling explorations of the game park, featuring both a morning and an afternoon game drive. In Tsavo West National Park, the skies are alive with the presence of various birds – keep an eye out for the striking white-bellied go-away bird, the vibrant red-beaked hornbills, and the majestic bateleur Eagles. In this vibrant landscape, you’ll encounter vast herds of elephants, zebras, and buffaloes, alongside the majestic presence of lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Keep your eyes peeled for dung beetles maneuvering massive spheres of elephant dung along the paths. Tsavo Park is renowned for its massive elephant herds, frequently spotted adorned in a delicate layer of red dust.

Tsavo Park, encompassing both East and West, stands as the largest national park in Kenya, sprawling over an impressive 22,000 km². The breathtaking Tsavo West Park showcases an incredible array of landscapes, featuring swamps and natural springs alongside rocky peaks, extinct volcanic cones, and expansive rolling plains. The breathtaking Chyulu Hills showcase a series of ancient volcanic cinder cones, offering stunning vistas of Kilimanjaro and vibrant herds of elands, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest.

Day 3: Journey from Tsavo West to Amboseli National Park – Kenya

In the morning, we set off on an exhilarating game drive in Tsavo West Park before heading to Amboseli National Park, situated to the northwest of Tsavo, close to the Kenyan border with Tanzania. We keep our eyes peeled for wildlife as we journey to our tented safari camp nestled within Amboseli Park.

Amboseli Game Park spans 392km² and ranks as the second most visited park in Kenya, following the renowned Masai Mara. Amboseli captivates with its stunning landscapes, highlighted by the majestic presence of Mt. Kilimanjaro to the south. This breathtaking environment offers incredible chances for photography, particularly for getting up close with majestic bull elephants, all framed by the stunning mountain backdrop.

We spend the night in fully equipped tents at an upscale, tented safari camp. Savor your dinner while taking in the stunning vistas of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Amboseli plains from the exclusive camp.

Day 4: Amboseli National Park – Kenya

We embark on an exhilarating day of discovery in Amboseli Park, traversing its landscapes on thrilling game drives. Amboseli boasts vibrant grasslands nourished by the melting snow of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. At an impressive height of 5896m above sea level, the snow-capped mountain creates a stunning setting for wildlife observation in Amboseli.

Amboseli National Park is home to some of the largest elephant herds in Kenya and is renowned for its magnificent elephant bulls with their striking tusks. Amboseli stands out as a premier destination in Africa for experiencing elephants in their natural habitat, while also providing exceptional photographic chances of wildlife set against the breathtaking backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro.

The Game Park is home to vast herds of buffalos, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, hippos, and a variety of antelope species, including impala. Amboseli Park boasts an incredible array of wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, jackals, warthogs, and many more fascinating creatures. The park is alive with a vibrant array of birds, featuring bee-eaters, kingfishers, pelicans, African fish eagles, and falcons.

Meals throughout the day at the camp are part of the tour package. We set up camp for the night in Amboseli at the same tranquil spot as the previous evening.

Day 5: Journey from Amboseli to the majestic Mount Kenya (Sweetwaters) – Kenya

On day 5 of our Kenya Wildlife Safari, we embarked on an early morning journey heading north towards the majestic Mount Kenya. Mt Kenya, towering at 5199m above sea level, is the second highest mountain in Africa.

In the afternoon, we embark on an exhilarating game drive at Sweetwater’s game ranch, nestled near the majestic Mount Kenya.

The game ranch boasts a diverse array of wild animals and serves as a dedicated breeding ground for black rhinos. The ranch is home to an exciting chimpanzee rehabilitation program. Sweetwaters stands as Kenya’s unique sanctuary dedicated to the rehabilitation of chimpanzees, offering refuge to those who have faced mistreatment. The chimpanzees reside at Sweetwaters in a safe setting that mirrors their wild habitat as closely as possible.

We spend the night at a cozy lodge nestled near Mount Kenya.

Day 6: Journey from Mt. Kenya to the Samburu Game Reserve – Kenya

After breakfast today, we embark on our journey from the Mount Kenya area to Samburu National Park. We keep an eye out for wildlife as we journey to our next overnight campsite, where we enjoy lunch beside the Ewaso Nyiro River.

After lunch, we embarked on an exhilarating game drive, eager to encounter the wildlife of Samburu. This region of Kenya boasts the rare grevy’s zebra with its large furry ears, gerenuk antelope gracefully balancing on their hind legs to reach for food, striking blue-necked Somali ostriches with their unique blue legs, and the elusive Beisa oryx.

We set up our camp beside the Ewaso Nyiro River, nestled under the cool shade of palms and trees. The camp offers invigorating cold showers, perfect for rejuvenating oneself and finding relief from the warmth of the African plains.

Day 7: Samburu National Reserve – Kenya

Day seven is dedicated to the thrill of game viewing in Samburu National Reserve, traversing its expansive grasslands and varied terrains in pursuit of the incredible wildlife that inhabits this remarkable place. Prepare for thrilling encounters with elephants and crocodiles, and if fortune smiles upon us, we might just catch a glimpse of leopards. The park boasts an array of fascinating wildlife, including reticulated giraffes, hippos, and lions. Birdwatchers will delight in the diverse species, featuring numerous weaverbirds and the majestic martial eagle.

Samburu is a land of breathtaking forests, vibrant springs, and winding rivers, showcasing remarkable landscapes. The game park unfolds across a dynamic lava plain, showcasing a tapestry of diverse habitats, including thorn scrub, vibrant red dirt, parched river beds, jagged volcanic rock, steep hills, and rugged outcrops.

The Samburu area is inhabited by fascinating individuals with a vibrant heritage, creating an engaging cultural experience.

Day 8: Journey from Samburu National Reserve to Lake Nakuru – Kenya

After breakfast, we break down camp and set off once more, eager to spot wildlife as we journey out of Samburu Park. We journey south through Kenya to Lake Nakuru National Park, pausing for a delightful lunch along the way. Upon reaching Lake Nakuru, we embark on an exhilarating afternoon game drive through the vibrant wildlife area.

Lake Nakuru National Park encircles the lake and was initially established to safeguard the vibrant birdlife, eventually evolving into a refuge for endangered species like the rhino. In the heart of the country, you can find around 25 majestic white and black rhinos, making it one of the largest gatherings of these incredible creatures. This park is home to predators, and Rothschild’s giraffes have been brought in for their protection.

This Kenyan game park continues to be a haven for bird enthusiasts, boasting over 400 species of birds that call it home. Among the bird species are the Great White Pelican, African Spoonbill, Yellow-billed Stork, Lesser and Greater Flamingo, and Long-crested Eagle. The small park (180 sq km) is alive with the presence of warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard, inviting exploration and excitement at every turn. Nakuru park continues to be a paradise for bird enthusiasts, boasting over 400 species of birds that call this place home.

This evening, we find ourselves in cozy en-suite rooms at a welcoming lodge nestled within the heart of Lake Nakuru National Park.

Day 9: Journey from Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara – Kenya

Today we embark on an exciting journey after breakfast, heading south to the renowned Masai Mara Game Reserve in southwest Kenya.

We journey across stunning savannah grasslands and expansive plains in the Great Rift Valley, heading towards our next overnight camp nestled within a private Masai Mara conservancy. As we journey to our tented camp just outside of Masai Mara, we remain vigilant for the wonders of wildlife around us. The camp is nestled alongside the Oloirigynyisho River, a place where elephants, wildebeest, zebra, and other wildlife often roam.

Conclude your day with refreshing drinks at the camp, gazing out at the majestic Oloolotikoshi Hills. After dinner in the African-style restaurant, you can relax in the bar and lounge areas before retreating to your spacious luxury tent.

Day 10: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Kenya

Our upcoming two days in the Masai Mara promise thrilling encounters with wildlife as we embark on an exciting journey through this stunning landscape.

On clear days, the Masai Mara National Reserve presents breathtaking orange-tinged sunsets that beckon to be captured on camera. The Mara reserve spans 1510km² of breathtaking open landscapes and lush riverine woodlands, tracing the winding paths of the Mara and Talek rivers. A single look reveals its charm as a legendary landscape, teeming with incredible wildlife.

A thrilling balloon safari can be organized for an additional fee.

Evenings unfold in the tented camp, where the scenic wilderness setting, warm hospitality, and the vast starry sky create a perfect backdrop for relaxation.

Day 11: Masai Mara Reserve – Kenya

We embark on another exhilarating day discovering the breathtaking wonders of Masai Mara Park. In the Mara Reserve, every corner reveals a vibrant tapestry of wildlife, featuring majestic Masai giraffes, playful baboons, curious warthogs, and elusive bat-eared foxes. You’ll encounter grey jackals, spotted hyenas, and a variety of antelope like topis, impalas, and hartebeests. The landscape is also home to magnificent wildebeest, towering elephants, sturdy buffaloes, striking zebras, and the mighty hippos. Lions can often be spotted lounging contentedly after a satisfying feast or scanning the vast plains, ever watchful for their next thrilling hunt. Cheetahs and leopards may be elusive, yet they can still be found with some effort.

The pinnacle of wildlife excitement occurs during the annual wildebeest migration in July and August, when millions of these grazers journey north from the Serengeti in pursuit of greener pastures, only to head south again in October. The Great Migration is a breathtaking display of wildlife that captivates the senses!

Day 12: Journey from Masai Mara to Nairobi – Kenya

Awaken to the vibrant sounds of the African bush at our tented camp in the Masai Mara Conservancy area, and savor a relaxed breakfast.

Then we return to the vibrant Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, arriving around 15h00 in the afternoon. Your journey through the captivating landscapes of Kenya, exploring the wonders of Masai Mara and premier game parks, concludes as you arrive in Nairobi.
