Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )
Day 1: Nairobi – Kenya
On day one, we welcome you at the airport in Nairobi and whisk you away to your first overnight hotel in this vibrant East African city.
Your journey begins with a night in Nairobi, Kenya’s vibrant capital, before embarking on an exhilarating 10-day adventure through the Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and the stunning shores of Mombasa Beach the next morning.
Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve – Kenya
In the morning, we set off from Nairobi and journey southwest to the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve.
Our expedition to Masai Mara leads us through the breathtaking Great Rift Valley in Kenya. As we journey onward, we pause to soak in the stunning vistas, then ascend the rugged western slopes of the Rift Valley. Then we journey through the Loita Plains, stepping into Maasai territory, where we encounter Maasai warriors clad in vibrant red robes, caring for their livestock along the path.
As we journey to our overnight lodge in a private conservancy near Masai Mara, we keep our eyes peeled for wildlife, arriving just in time for a delightful lunch.
After lunch, we embark on an exciting journey into this stunning Kenyan game park for an afternoon game drive. We journey through Masa Mara in pursuit of the rich wildlife that thrives in this vibrant landscape, including Africa’s iconic Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino. As we make our way back to the tented camp near Masai Mara National Reserve, we gather for dinner and unwind amidst the beauty of the wild. Wildlife frequently graces the area around the camp, beautifully positioned along the riverbanks in the conservancy.
Days 3 and 4: Masai Mara Expedition – Kenya
The following two days are dedicated to exploring the wonders of Kenya’s premier wildlife haven, the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Our morning and afternoon game drives lead us on thrilling quests to encounter Africa’s Big Five and the diverse wildlife that calls this expansive Kenyan game reserve home. On clear days, the Mara showcases breathtaking orange-tinged sunsets that create stunning photo opportunities.
The Mara Game Reserve spans 1510km² of breathtaking, expansive landscapes and lush riverine woodlands, tracing the winding paths of the Mara and Talek rivers in southwest Kenya. Just a single look reveals its charm; it embodies the classic open African savannah, teeming with an abundance of wildlife.
In the expansive Masai Mara Park, every corner reveals an abundance of wildlife, including Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impalas, hartebeests, and wildebeests. Incredible herds of elephants, buffalos, zebras, and hippos roam the land. Lions can often be spotted lounging in the sun after a satisfying feast or scanning the vast plains, ever watchful for their next opportunity. Cheetahs and leopards may be elusive, yet they are quite frequently encountered.
The pinnacle of excitement occurs during the annual wildebeest exodus, known as the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grazers journey north from the Serengeti in pursuit of greener pastures before heading south once more in October. The Great Migration of hooved animals draws in Africa’s predators, including lions, hyenas, and cheetahs, among others.
Hot-air balloon trips offer an exceptional perspective of the savannah plains brimming with wildlife. Exciting balloon trips in the Masai Mara can be organized for an additional fee.
We spend both nights at the same tented safari camp near Masai Mara.
Day 5: Journey from Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park – Kenya
Day five begins with a delightful breakfast at the tented lodge nestled in a private conservancy, setting the stage for our ongoing exploration through the captivating landscapes of Kenya. From the Masai Mara Conservancy, we journey north to Lake Nakuru National Park, reaching our guest house just in time for lunch. After lunch, we venture into the bush for an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru Park, eager to discover its rich wildlife and abundant birdlife. This Kenyan game park continues to be a treasure trove for bird enthusiasts, boasting over 400 species of birds that call it home. Among the bird species are the Great White Pelican, African Spoonbill, Yellow-billed Stork, Lesser and Greater Flamingo, and Long-crested Eagle.
The Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya serves as a vital haven for some of Africa’s most endangered wildlife, including the majestic black and white rhinos and the elegant Rothschild Giraffes. The game reserve hosts an array of wildlife, including lions, waterbuck, buffaloes, leopards, and baboons, all of which we eagerly search for during our game drive.
We enjoy dinner and spend the night in en-suite rooms at a cozy lodge close to Lake Nakuru. The lodge boasts a bar and restaurant, providing free WiFi along with in-room tea and coffee facilities, DSTV, complimentary bottled water, and toiletries.
Day 6: Journey from Lake Nakuru to Mombasa – Kenya
Set off on an exhilarating early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, just before breakfast. After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, we set off on our journey back to Nairobi, heading towards the bustling Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. We touch down at the airport around 14:00 and embark on a flight to Mombasa (extra cost).
We greet you at the airport in Mombasa and take you to a beach hotel, setting the stage for the next exciting chapter of our Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru & Mombasa Beach Tour.
Day 7 – 9: Mombasa – Kenya
We spend the next three days basking in the sunshine and the warm Indian Ocean at a beach resort near Mombasa, on the coast of East Africa. Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya and features the biggest port along the East African coast.
Unwind on the sandy shores and plunge into the ocean, savoring a moment of tranquility after our exhilarating game viewing in Kenya’s premier wildlife regions. In and around Mombasa, a vibrant blend of Indian, Arabic, and African influences awaits, offering a chance to partake in optional activities and exhilarating water sports for an additional cost.
